ABOUT THE PROJECT
The project began with the desire to preserve my grandfather’s embroidery heritage that began as an occupational therapy after a wrist injury, which prompted me to explore the various layers of gobelin craft.
In this project I am giving my own interpretation to the actualization of the gobelin.
Using knitting I am making a wall carpet, letting the nature's image to pour into our contemporary reality in a way combining both in a bounderless space. The composition is characterized in motives, when putting them together, they create a humorous scene that allows to observe a surreal wall carpet that bring the nature indoors.
The Observer is part of the experience and can give it a personal interpretation according to his or her's perspective.
In the making of my project I combined collages
In the process of the project, images and scenes from everyday life from my grandfather's gobelins collection were combined into collages, along with scenes I took from my current life. the collages are translated in colored language into knitting language. Each source, either the gobelins and the photos taken from my current life, is presented in the project by a different resolution and material that are knitted in a knit-weaving technique.
